Wang Yang, Politburo Standing Committee (PBSC) Member and Chairman of the CPPCC) chaired a meeting on poverty alleviation on April 14, 2020. This is the third time in five weeks that Wang Yang has led a high-level meeting on poverty alleviation in a clear sign that Wang Yang has taken charge of the poverty alleviation portfolio.

(Comment: Vice Premier Hu Chunhua was till now leading the programme on poverty alleviation. Poverty alleviation was part of Wang Yang’s portfolio when he was Vice Premier between 2013 and 2018. Vice Premier Hu Chunhua seems to have been replaced from chairing Chinese President Xi Jinping's politically important agenda on poverty alleviation for 2021.)
