CHINA-HEALTH EMERGENCY: QUESTIONS RAISED ON TESTING ALL 11 MILLION WUHAN RESIDENTS WITHIN TEN DAYS

Wuhan, the epicentre of the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak, began its programme to test all 11 million of its residents on May 14. The Hubei Daily, a Hubei Communist Party-run newspaper, estimated the cost of the programme at nearly 1 billion Yuan,  which it said is likely to be borne by the Wuhan City and District Finance. It added that the Wuhan Municipal Government believes that although the cost is somewhat high, the programme does have advantages. It also admitted, however, that performing the tests within 10 days is almost impossible.
