CHINA-US: U.S. BANS SEVEN CHINESE AIRLINES FROM FLYING TO US

The Washington Post reported (June 3) that in a move bound to exacerbate tensions between the US and China, the US Department of Transportation said (June 3) it will ban all commercial passenger flights by Chinese carriers beginning June 16. It said the decision is in response to China’s refusal to allow US carriers to resume service to China. The rule would impact operations of seven carriers, including Air China and China Eastern Airlines. The Department of Transportation said the ban could take effect sooner at President Trump’s discretion.
