CHINA-INDIA: INDIAN ARMY CHIEF VISITS BORDER FORMATIONS IN LADAKH

Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane visited the forward areas in Ladakh on June 24 and 25 when he awarded Commendation Certificates to the soldiers who fought in the action at Galwan Valley. Meanwhile, on June 25, India's External Affairs Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava accused Chinese forces of acting in disregard of agreements between the two countries. He said China’s deployment of a large number of troops and “unjustified and untenable claims” on the Galwan Valley were examples of the changed behaviour. He said “At the heart of the matter is that since early May the Chinese side has been amassing a large contingent of troops and armaments along the Line of Actual Control. Obviously, the Indian side had to undertake counter-deployments and resulting tension thereafter expressed itself.”
