Beijing News reported that a violent clash erupted during a routine annual military training on August 24, 2014, at the Huangcang Middle School in Hunan Province.  The incident happened when a male student, unhappy about the way an officer joked with a female student, told the officer off. He was then assigned to do push-ups as punishment and the angry officer kicked and beat the student  which provoked other students to attack him. Some students and military personnel were injured. The incident is being investigated by the local education bureau and the police
