CHINA-S&T: DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF LIAONING PROVINCE AWARDED USD 1 MILLION FOR DISCOVERING TWO NEW TYPES OF NANO STRUCTURES

"The Beijing News" reported on September 6, that the US$ 1 million Future Science Award was given to Lu Ke, Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province responsible for science and technology, health, sports etc. and Academician and Researcher of the Institute of Metal Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lu Ke and his research team discovered that two new types of nanostructures can increase the strength of copper metal materials without losing its good plasticity and conductivity, and made a major breakthrough in the principle of strengthening metal materials.

(Comments: Lu Ke was born in May 1965 in Jixian County, Henan Province. He joined the Jiu San Society in 1993 and holds a doctorate in engineering. He is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher of Institute of Metal Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Shenyang National Research Center for Materials Science. When appointed, he was the youngest Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at the age of 38. He was recently elected Foreign academician of the American Academy of Engineering. Lu Ke is currently the Deputy Governor of Liaoning, responsible for science and technology, health, sports and other aspects.)
