CHINA-ASEAN: WANG YI TO ATTEND ASEAN REGIONAL FORUM ON FINAL DAY

Nikkei Asian Review (September 1) reported that Vietnam will host the meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum from September 9 to discuss Asia-Pacific security. In addition to representatives from 27 countries and organizations, including Japan and North Korea, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Chinese Foreign Minister have confirmed they will attend. Vietnam, which sides with the China skeptics, is expected to seek to include language criticising China's "use of force" in the ASEAN Regional Forum chairman's statement due out on September 12.
