i) The All-Private Economy United Front Work Conference was held via video conference in Beijing on September 16 and prominently covered by the state-owned CCTV. Important instructions from CCP CC General Secretary Xi Jinping were conveyed at the meeting. You Quan, Secretary of the CCP CC Secretariat and Head of the CCP CC United Front Work Department presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. He said that the united front departments at all levels should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, implement them with a high sense of responsibility and mission, improve political positions, focus on key tasks, strengthen overall coordination, and strive to create a new era of a private economic united front. Responsible comrades from the Central Cyberspace Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission, the United Front Work Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, and the United Front Work Department of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, and representatives of relevant private entrepreneurs delivered speeches. Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, attended the meeting.

ii) The CCP CC General Office issued (September 15) a document entitled 'Opinions on Strengthening the United Front Work of the Private Economy in the New Era' on “Strengthening United Front Work within the private sector is an important way to realize the Party's leadership over the private economy, an important step to develop and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics.” The document included instructions on how to get private industry to fall in line with the CCP. These are: Strengthening political guidance for private sector personnel; improving communication mechanisms between private businesses and the government; and strengthening Party-building in private enterprises.
