CHINESE MFA SPOKESPERSON'S COMMENT ON POSTPONEMENT

 

On September 7, 2014, the website of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported the remarks of MFA spokesperson Qin Gang on the postponed of President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan. Qin Gang said: for some period of time, China and Pakistan have maintained communication on a state visit to Pakistan in mid-September by President Xi Jinping.  Fruitful preparations were made for this visit.  In view of the current political situation in Pakistan, the Chinese government and the government of Pakistan agreed to postpone President Xi Jinping's state visit to Pakistan planned for later this month . The two sides are negotiating a new date through diplomatic channels for President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan as early as possible . 
The two sides emphasized that China and Pakistan are time-tested all-weather friends. The two sides attach great importance to President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan,and hope the visit takes place as early as possible in order to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Pakistan.

According to local media reports, The Pakistani government and the opposition party Tehreek-e-Insaf carried out dialogue on the 5th September, and they hope to resolve the current impasse, but the two sides still differ on some important issues.
