CHINA-HONGKONG: MORE PRO-DEMOCRACY LEGISLATORS ARRESTED ON DECEMBER 8
On December 8, Hong Kong Island Regional Criminal Unit officers arrested Leung Kwok-hung, Figo Chan and Tang Sai-lai of the League of Social Democrats, and Eastern District Councillors Tsang Kin-sing, Andy Chui and Lancelot Chan bringing to eight the number of pro-democracy figures arrested so far on suspicion of the unauthorised assembly during a July 1 protest. Eddie Chu and Wu Chi-wai were arrested earlier.
On December 12 the Hongkong Police arrested Jimmy Lai, Hongkong-based business magnate and founder of Apple Daily, on charges of collaborating and passing secrets to foreign powers under the National Security Law.
