Reliable reports suggest that the Director of the General Political Department (GPD) Security Department, Major General Yu Shanjun, is in trouble. He was one of three producers of the NDU program accusing the U.S. of subversion. There are also reports that the Director of the GPD Liaison Department, Major General Xing Yunming, has been placed under investigation. The GPD Liaison Department, under the China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC), is best known for managing the Sanya Initiative, as well as Taiwan-directed propaganda and united front work.
