CHINA-TAIWAN: PLAN AIRCRAFT CARRIER TRANSITS THROUGH TAIWAN STRAITS

The PLA Navy announced (December 28) that China's indigenous aircraft carrier Shandong has passed through the Taiwan Strait to conduct training in the South China Sea. The Shandong transited on December 27, a day after the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin made a similar passage. Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said the Shandong left the Chinese port of Dalian along with four escort ships on December 24 and continued to sail south after passing through the strait.
