CHINA-UNITED FRONT: UFWD CONVENES ALL CHINA MEETING OF DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS

The CCP CC United Front Work Department (UFWD) convened a meeting in Beijing on January 18 of UFWD Directors from all across China. Politburo Standing Committee member and CPPCC Chairman Wang Yang spoke at a meeting. He said the 'New Era' poses new challenges and complexities to united front work and “We need to unite all the forces that we can unite, and we need to mobilize all active factors that we can mobilize.” Referring to united front work pertaining to ethnic minorities and religious affairs, Wang Yang emphasized that united front work among ethnic minorities should be pursued under the framework of the Chinese nation collective, and religion-related work should center around “sinicizing religion,” guiding religion integration with socialism. The Secretary of the CCP CC Secretariat and Director of the Central United Front Work Department You Quan also spoke at the meeting. He affirmed that all united front work must adhere to the central Party leadership. All cadres should deeply study and implement the “CCP United Front Work Regulations,” as well as Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on improving united front work.
