CHINA-SUPREME PEOPLE'S COURT: CHINA'S SUPREME COURT TO INTEGRATE SOCIALIST CORE VALUES INTO COURT JUDGEMENTS

China's Supreme People's Court issued a policy document on February 18, on integrating 'socialist core values' into court judgments/rulings and in the reasoning and explanation of the law. Applicable to all courts including those of the Military, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), Xinjiang-Uyghur AR etc, the document stipulated: "People's courts at all levels should deeply promote the integration of core socialist values into the interpretation of judgment documents, and regard the core socialist values as an important guide for understanding the purpose of legislation and legal principles, as an important standard for testing whether the discretionary power is properly exercised, and ensuring accuracy."
