CHINA-US: CLIMATE CZAR JOHN KERRY TO VISIT CHINA THIS WEEK TO DISCUS COOPERATION ON CLIMATE

The US State Department and China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced that US Climate Envoy John Kerry will travel to Shanghai and Seoul, from April 14 to 17. In Shanghai, he is expected to meet China's Special Climate Envoy, Xie Zhenhua for exchanges on China-US climate cooperation and COP26 of the UNFCCC. The Wall Street Journal (April 14) said Kerry is set to conduct a video call with a senior leader on economic and climate change affairs, likely Vice Premier Han Zheng. He may also speak with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Chinese leader Xi Jinping's top foreign-policy aide, Yang Jiechi. In an interview with India Today during his visit to India, Kerry said "we want to work with China in doing this. What President Biden said is we will have differences on some issues. we can't be the prisoners of these issues. We must cooperate on climate".
