The People's Daily (May 11) publicised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) carried out "in-depth study and education of party history" with the theme "Consolidate the forces of great country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics (Struggle for a hundred years and set sail on a new journey, learn from the party’s history, comprehend thoughts and do practical things to create a new situation)". It said that after the Party Central Committee held a Party History Study and Education Mobilization meeting, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi asked China's diplomatic establishment "to earnestly carry out party history study and education, further strengthen ideals and beliefs and party spirit, use the party’s glorious tradition to strengthen the diplomatic spirit and use the party’s historical experience. Enlighten diplomatic wisdom, recognize the general trend of the world and the historical position of contemporary China, and grasp the historical initiative in the development of diplomacy". MoFA's Party Committee established a leading group for the study and formulated the "Implementation Plan for the Study and Education of Party History on the Diplomatic Front." The Secretary of MoFA's Party Committee Qi Yu asked party organizations at all levels to regard the study and education of party history as a major political task throughout the year and earnestly implement it. MoFA's Party Committee publicised that more than 400 directly affiliated party organizations, including Ministries and Embassies and Consulates abroad, quickly established leading institutions and tens of thousands of party members actively participated. Party members and cadres read the designated study materials. It clarified that this is a compulsory course for party members and cadres on the diplomatic front to read party history at a fixed time every day. It said the Party school of the agency had carried out various activities and a 12-day special study of Party history and experts from the Central Party History and Literature Research Institute gave lectures to more than 50 department-level leading cadres. Among its activities, it said the "Spring Seed Operation" to help overseas Chinese citizens get the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible has been launched in more than 120 countries, benefiting more than 500,000 overseas compatriots.
