CHINA-TIBET: NYINGCHI PARTY SECRETARY VISITS METOK BORDER COUNTY AND ASKS VILLAGERS TO BE VIGILANT AND PROTECT THEIR HOMES AND COUNTRY FROM THE PANDEMIC IN NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES

Ma Shengchang, Party Secretary of Nyingchi went to the border villages and duty stations in Metok County (Metok also known as Pema Ko in Tibetan borders Arunachal Pradesh, India) on inspection on May 18 and 19. He emphasized that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the spirit of the Seventh Tibet Work Forum, especially the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech. He said the strategy of "home builders" is to educate and guide people of all ethnic groups to take root in the snowy borders like Gesanghua, protect the sacred land and build a happy home, and practice the "two maintenances" with practical actions. He visited the Budeng village, and Xirang village in Beibeng township on the border.  In Xirang Village, Beibeng Township, he said it ‘is the most bordered village in Medog County. The masses here have guarded the sacred territory of the motherland for generations’. He told the villagers to firmly establish a sense of citizenship and conservation, maintain the spirit of hard work and self-reliance. In the frontier, strive to be the guardian of the sacred land and the builder of a happy homeland, and return the care and concern of the General Secretary and the Party Central Committee by protecting and consolidating the border.  He told them to "build a 'Great Wall of Steel' to protect your home and the country, particularly, in response to the severe situation of the spread of the epidemic in neighbouring countries" and  "increase their self-protection awareness and protection capabilities, build a strict defense line for mass prevention and control in border areas". Ma Shengchang also went to the border defense duty point and inspected the construction of border defense highways and other infrastructures.
