CCTV (June 12) reported that the US Department of Defense published a newsletter on June 9 that US Secretary of Defense Austin issued an "internal directive" requesting the Department of Defense to take a series of actions to better respond to so-called China as America’s primary challenge Security threats. It said the United States is uniting with Japan in an attempt to persuade other G7 member states to include the Taiwan issue in a joint statement issued after the summit.
