CHINA-TIBET: TIBET PLANS GLOBAL PROMOTIONAL EVENT ON TIBET AS PART OF CCP CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

Executive Vice Chairman of TAR People’s Government and Standing Member of TAR Party Committee, Jiang Jie convened a special meeting recently to evaluate the preparatory work for the “Global Promotional Event on Tibet by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”. Wang Haizhou, Standing Member of the TAR Party Committee and Minister of the TAR Propaganda Department also attended and spoke at the meeting. The preparatory meeting of all the leading groups from various Departments was held on May 10. Jiang Jie acknowledged the progress thus far and said “This special event is a first of a kind and showcases the importance the CCP Central Committee, the State Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches to Tibet”. He urged all concerned preparatory departments and leading groups to improve their political stance, unify thoughts and ideological understanding in line with the party, and urged them to realise the “special care and concern of the Central Committee”. He suggested the use of publicity films, exhibitions, etc to display the “new image of Tibet’s self-confidence, openness and tolerance”. He stressed the need to use “vivid facts to present the new life in new Tibet, and refute overseas rumours through a rational, powerful and modest manner”. Wang Haizhou reiterated that “quality-driven and meticulous publicity should be presented through exhibitions to showcase harmony and beauty of the new socialist and modern Tibet.”
