CHINA-LEADERSHIP: CHEN YIXIN CHAIRS PLAC MEETING
On June 15, the Secretary-General of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission (PLAC) Chen Yixin, chaired a PLAC meeting on implementing the Party’s recent directive to improve supervision of top bosses at Party and state organisations. A report on the PLAC Wechat said the PLAC is looking to improve oversight of its top bosses. It said “The secretary-general should listen to performance reports on...responsibilities for Party governance by other members of the leadership team every year” and "Where responsibilities are not carried out properly, [the secretary-general should] conduct timely talks with the lower-level bosses.”
(Comment: Chen Yixin chairing the PLAC meeting is interesting as it should normally be Politburo member and Chairman of the PLAC Guo Shengkun. Chen Yixin is a loyalist of Xi Jinping and was handpicked by him for the job of Secretary-General of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission (PLAC).)
