The Beijing Daily (July 7) reported that Wang Donghai, Deputy Director of the National Defense Mobilization Department of the Central Military Commission, is appointed Political Commissar of the Army in the Southern Theater Command. The PLA Southern Theater Command Army is stationed in Nanning and is responsible for leading and commanding the armed forces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan, and the PLA troops stationed in Hong Kong and Macao. Wang Donghai had previously served in the former Jinan Military Region for a long time before serving as the Director of the Political Department of the Shandong Military Region. After the military reform, he was appointed Deputy Political Commissar and Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of the Shandong Military Region. In 2018, Wang Donghai was transferred to be the Deputy Director of the National Defense Mobilization Department of the Central Military Commission.
