CHINA-US: CHINESE VICE PRESIDENT WANG QISHAN CALLS FOR CHINA-US DIALOGUE TO AVOID MISGUIDANCE AND MISCALCULATION
Caixin (July 10) reported that Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan had called for dialogue between China and the U.S. on July 9. Saying bilateral ties are at a critical point he urged the two countries to uphold mutual trust and seek common ground while reserving differences. He said dialogue is necessary to manage differences and expand common interests. Wang Qishan said the two countries should respect each other's sovereignty, security and development interests. He added that the biggest challenge the U.S. faces is not China but itself, and the U.S. strategy toward China should avoid misguidance and miscalculation.
