On PLA  Day on August 1, the People's Daily published a frontpage article captioned 'The People's Army listens to the party, follows the party, keeps in mind its original mission, inherits the red gene, and assumes the responsibility of being a strong army——The military flag always floats with the party flag'. The article declared in conclusion that "the people’s army has a blueprint drawn up and goals are clear. The "14th Five-Year Plan" and the 2035 long-term goal outline are clearly set out to ensure the achievement of the century-old goal of the army by 2027. The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that we should strive to achieve the basic goal by 2035. Realize the modernization of national defence and the armed forces, and build the People's Army into a world-class army in an all-around way by the middle of this century. The party flag refers to the direction of the military flag. The journey is long, only struggle!"
