CHINA-TIBET: GLOBAL TIMES REPORTERS VISIT TIBET FROM MID-JULY TO EARLY AUGUST AND SEE 'TROPHIES' CAPTURED FROM 'FOREIGN FORCES' ON THE BORDER

Sina.com reported on August 5 that Global Times reporters set off from Xinjiang and followed the general route of the People's Liberation Army that entered Tibet from Xinjiang from mid-July to early August. They conducted in-depth interviews in Tibet and explored the stories behind the great changes in Tibet during the 70 years of peaceful liberation. The reporter walked through Kashgar and Hotan areas in Xinjiang, entered the Ngari area in Tibet, passed through Gaize County, Gar County, and Burang County, and then came to the prosperous Shigatse City and its affiliates. He visited Yadong County before finally arriving in Lhasa. Among those interviewed were ordinary people, border residents who were relocated due to the earthquake, young aid-Tibet cadres and hard-working grassroots civil servants, model representatives of Tibetans who have lifted out of poverty and become rich, and the PLA soldiers who defended the border, PAPF personnel at border police stations and tourists from all over the country. In the Military History Museum of the regiment station, officers and soldiers showed them the military flag that had been reviewed by the party and the people in Tiananmen Square and briefed them on the regiment's heroic performance in the "Indian self-defense counterattack in 1962". The reporter noticed some 'spoils that appeared to have been seized from foreign troops in response to border frictions in recent years'. The Company commander Qi Nan said: "It is just so coincidental that the officers and soldiers of the 'advance company' were also composed of officers and soldiers from 7 ethnic groups (Han, Mongolian, Hui, Tibetan, Uygur, Kazakh, and Xibe). The company is also composed of officers and soldiers from seven nationalities." Displaying the company’s latest equipment, he said they can now move rapidly on the plateau with powerful firepower. He told reporters that if the order allotts three hours to arrive at a designated location during training, the entire company must arrive within two hours, leaving one hour for emergency situations.
