The People's Daily (August 7) published an interview with Li Jinbin, Party Secretary of Anhui Province, under the caption 'Break a new path in the rise of Central China'. In the interview, Li Jinbin said they would strive to retain Anhui's position as the leading province in the Central China region and focus on five things. He listed them as: (i) innovation and cooperation, coordinate the innovation resources of the Yangtze River Delta and the central region and jointly carry out key core technology research. (ii) create a platform for connecting the market, capital, industry, talent, technology, and information of the Yangtze River Delta with the central region, and build a batch of ecological priority green development demonstration zones in adjacent regions between provinces. (iii) speed up transportation interconnection, enhance the status of Anhui Province as a comprehensive transportation hub connecting the central region and the Yangtze River Delta, and jointly build a number of strategic channels connecting the Yangtze River Delta and co-constructing the "Belt and Road" countries (regions), connecting provincial capitals and metropolitan areas. (iv) strive to form a batch of reproducible institutional innovations as soon as possible, and comprehensively deepen cooperation with other regions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. (v) achieve green joint construction, jointly promote the protection of the Yangtze River, establish a cross-provincial joint prevention and control mechanism for mainstream rivers such as the Yangtze River and the Huai River, and build a strong ecological security barrier for high-quality development.
