The Chinese Communist Party released a publication on August 26 titled "The CPC: Its Mission and Contributions" at a press conference in Beijing attended by senior officials of the Party. Xu Lin, Vice Minister of the CCP CC Publicity Department and Minister of the State Council Information Office chaired the conference. The Global Times (August 26) said the publication, which has five chapters, stressed the past and future contributions of the CCP to China and the rest of the world and its belief that 'the strength of a powerful political party or a powerful country lies in its open mind, broad vision, and great sense of responsibility, rather than its size and muscle'.
