The Beijing Daily (August 23) published an article by Shi Zhongquan, former Deputy Director of the Central Party History Research Office, on CCP CC General Secretary Xi Jinping's July 1st speech. Emphasising the importance of the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he enumerated China's achievements under Xi Jinping. Asserting that "China's military has comprehensively implemented the strategy of reforming and strengthening the military, and the People's Army has undergone historic changes in its organizational structure and power system", he said "the organizational form of the army has achieved a revolutionary reshaping of the power system of the people’s army, and while accelerating the modernization of weapons and equipment". "The mental outlook of the commanders and fighters", he said, "and the actual combat capability has been unprecedentedly improved". He also stressed the ideological building of the party and the rule of the party by the system and the rule of the party by communist ideals, Marxist beliefs, and beliefs in socialism with Chinese characteristics for the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
