Chinese President Xi Jinping made an inspection tour of Chengde a popular tourist spot and the prefectural-level city just north of Beijing, on August 24. He visited The Chengde Mountain Resort – a complex of palaces and gardens used as a summer retreat by Qing dynasty emperors; the Puning Temple – nicknamed the “Big Buddha Temple”; Chengde Museum – a new facility (2019) with Tibetan elements; Daguikou Village, Pianqiaozi Town, Shuangluan District, and Home Care Service Center in Binhe Community of High-tech Zone, focusing on cultural heritage protection and inheritance, religious work, ethnic unity, rural revitalization, Field research on elderly care services.
