CHINA-JAPAN: FORMER JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER SHINZO ABE WARNS CHINA

Delivering a speech by video to a forum organized by the Institute for National Policy Research, a Taiwanese think tank, on December 1, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned China that a "military adventure would be the path to economic suicide". He said the actions of an increasingly powerful China towards Japan and Taiwan were likely to become more complex, blurring the line between war and peace. He said "an armed invasion of Taiwan would present a serious threat to Japan. A Taiwan crisis would be a Japan crisis and therefore a crisis for the Japan-US alliance. Beijing, President Xi Jinping in particular, should not have any misunderstanding in recognizing this.” He urged democratic peoples to constantly remind the CCP officials not to take the wrong path.
