CHINA-INDIA: MILITARY 'HAND-IN-HAND' EXERCISE

 A Xinhua despatch of November 17, 2014 captioned: "Hand in hand -2014" China and India ground forces joint anti-terrorism exercise began' reported that: the "Hand in hand -2014" China and India ground forces joint anti-terrorism exercise opening ceremony was conducted on 17th October at the Aundh Military Cantonment in Pune, Maharashtra. During the ceremony, both sides flag bearers were escorting their National flags, and also  played the national anthems . Subsequently, flags of the two countries were hanging low from two helicopters in the open sky of the training field.

 

 According to reports, the joint training of China and India ground forces joint anti-terrorism exercise is being conducted  since 2007, and it was also held in 2008, 2013 and this year it is the  fourth joint training. The joint training exercise is based on the results of the first three joint training exercises so as to further exchange  experiences and practice counter-terrorism;  explore the implementation of joint action against terrorism; enhance understanding and mutual trust between the two armies; and to promote further development of bilateral military relations.

 

 After the start of the training exercise ceremony , members of both parties  visited and saw the counter-terrorism weapons and equipment displayed by the Indian and Chinese Military. 

 

 

 In the next 10 days, the two sides will study and observe the teaching and demonstration of composite formation and other organizational techniques. They will see physical, tactical sign language and improvised explosive devices, wide search and exclusion. Training courses will be carried out in battlefield surveillance, three-dimensional seal control, rescue of hostages and the implementation of urban anti-terrorism joint military exercises by joint teams.

 

He Qiwei, leader of the Chinese joint training team said, " This time  to participate in joint training in foreign land  is important to enhance our army's military transparency, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with foreign armies.  I believe that through these exercises, both sides can learn from each other's ways of counter-terrorism training methods to improve the ability to carry out joint anti-terrorism task.
