The CCP CC Politburo met on December 6 to analyse and study the economic work in 2022; listen to the
work report of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the State Supervision Commission, and
study and deploy the party's work style and clean government and anti-corruption work in 2022; deliberation
Regulations on the Work of the Disciplinary Inspection Committee of the Communist Party of China. CCP
CC General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the meeting. Saying that "The meeting held that this year is
a landmark year in the history of the party and the country", Xinhua (December 6) said the meeting noted
that to do a good job of next year’s economic work, "Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese
characteristics for a new era" must be taken "as a guide to fully implement the spirit of the 19th National
Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Plenary Sessions of the 19th
Central Committee" while carrying forward "the great party building spirit", "work of seeking progress while
maintaining stability", implementing the new development concept, promoting innovation-driven
development, coordinating epidemic prevention and control etc. It emphasised the importance of
coordinating development and security, continuing to improve people's livelihood, maintaining economic
operations within a reasonable range, and maintaining "the overall social stability and welcome the party's
20th victory"! The Politburo emphasised "that next year's economic work must take the lead and seek
progress while maintaining stability". Among other issues it called for a prudent monetary policy, expanding
domestic demand, promoting the continuous recovery of consumption, enhancing the core competitiveness
of the manufacturing industry, and enhancing the resilience of the supply chain. It mentioned the importance
of construction of affordable housing and supporting the commercial housing market to better meet the
reasonable housing needs of buyers. The implementation of science and technology policies, it said, should
be accelerated with efforts to continue to tackle key core technologies, strengthen national strategic science
and technology forces, strengthen the position of enterprises as the mainstay of innovation, and realise a
virtuous circle of science and technology, it called for doing a good job in the preparations for the Beijing
Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics to ensure a simple, safe, and exciting Olympic event. Prior to this, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over a meeting of the Politburo Standing Committee
(PBSC) to listen to reports on the work of the State Supervision Commission of the Central Discipline
Inspection Commission (CDIC) in 2021 and the preparations for the sixth plenary meeting of the 19th CDIC.
The PBSC agreed to hold the sixth plenary meeting of the 19th CDIC from January 18 to 20, 2022
