CHINA-AUSTRALIA: XI JINPING'S VISIT

 On the conclusion of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan's state visit to Australia, the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott pledged on November 19, to boost bilateral ties. He described the visit as "fruitful", "a great success with historic significance" and said it had "deepened mutual understanding and trust."

During Xi Jinping's visit, China and Australia decided to upgrade their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, practically conclude bilateral negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA), and establish a communication and cooperation mechanism between leaders of the two countries' provinces and states.

After their meeting, Xi Jinping flew to Auckland for a state visit to New Zealand. He will thereafter travel to Fiji.
