CHINA-CYBER: CYBERSPACE ADMINISTRATION OF CHINA ISSUES NEW CYBER SECURITY REVIEW MEASURES ON JANUARY 4

The Cyberspace Administration of China on January 4 issued Cyber Security Review measures, clarifying that Online platform operators who have personal info of more than 1 million users and are going to list abroad must report for cybersecurity review. It also directed that Online platforms must not use algorithms to influence online public opinion, evade supervision, and monopolize and unfair competition. Those platforms must not generate synthetic fake news or disseminate unregulated information. On January 5, the Cyberspace Administration of China announced the "Regulations on the Management of Mobile Internet Application Information Services (Draft for Comment)" and released them for public comment. The draft for comments states that application providers shall not induce users to download through false propaganda, bundled downloads, etc., or use illegal and bad information.
