CHINA-PLA: COMMENTATOR'S ARTICLE IN PLA DAILY INSISTS THAT ELITE SOLDIERS MUST BE TRAINED WELL AND THAT THE DANGER OF WAR IS A REALITY

A Commentator's article in the PLA Daily (January 5) clarified that the Central Military Commission's Order No. 1 of 2022, clearly directed "comprehensively promote the transformation and upgrading of military training, and train elite soldiers who can fight well." It said the mobilization order "sounded the clarion call of the times for military training and preparation for war" and that the order had prompted an upsurge of actual combat military training in the new year. Asserting that "Armies exist to fight, soldiers are born to win", it said "The army is first and foremost a combat team, and fighting and preparing for war is the duty of soldiers. Our army is an armed group that carries out the party's political tasks. It must be strong in politics and strong in ability. This ability means being able to fight and win wars. No matter how the times develop or the situation changes, the strategic and central position of military training cannot be shaken, the core  function of being able to fight and win wars cannot be shifted in the slightest, and the main responsibility of training and preparing for war cannot be relaxed for a moment." It called the PLA a powerful force on the world military stage. The Commentator's article said that in the training and mobilization order, Xi Jinping asked the entire army to "accurately grasp the changes in national security and military struggles, and pay close attention to changes in science and technology, changes in warfare, and changes in opponents." He said "In today's world, power politics and the "law of the jungle" still prevail, and various foreseeable and unforeseen risks and challenges have increased significantly, and the danger of war is a reality." Mentioning that the PLAA will celebrate the 95th anniversary of its founding this year, the article stated in conclusion that "It is necessary to carry forward the fighting spirit of not being afraid of hardship and fear of death, training hard, scientifically, and safely, practicing strong commanding ability, practicing fighting skills, and practicing hard fighting style, so as to meet the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with high spirits and first-class training results Victory held."
