CHINA-MONGOLIA: XI JINPING MEETS MONGOLIAN PRIME MINISTER AT GREAT HALL OF THE PEOPLE

The state-run CCTV on February 6 televised a report on the meeting on February 6 between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden at the Great Hall of the People. Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden was in China to attend the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. During their meeting 'Xi Jinping stressed that China and Mongolia should adhere to mutual respect for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, respect each other's chosen development path, take care of each other's core interests, and always firmly grasp the right direction for the development of China-Mongolia relations'. He said the Chinese side is willing to continue to carry out anti-epidemic cooperation with the Mongolian side and developing the economy and improving people's livelihood and that 'The two sides should advocate genuine multilateralism, safeguard international fairness and justice, and maintain regional peace and stability'. Oyun Erden conveyed the cordial greetings from President Khuri Lesuk to President Xi Jinping and said, 'the Mongolian side firmly opposes the politicization of sports'. He thanked China for its timely assistance with vaccines during the worst period of the epidemic in Mongolia and said, "Gold is difficult to exchange for a good neighbour." He said Mongolia is willing to work closely with the Chinese side to closely connect Mongolia's "New Revival Policy", the "Belt and Road" initiative and China's "14th Five-Year Plan", so as to elevate the Mongolia-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. Ding Xuexiang, Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi, He Lifeng and others attended the meeting.
