The Chongqing Daily (February 26) reported that Chongqing Party Secretary and Politburo
member Chen Min'er attended the Municipality's Religious Work Conference on February 24
and delivered a speech where he emphasised it is necessary to deeply study and understand
General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on religious work and fully implement
the party's basic policy on religious work and continue to create a new situation in our city's
religious work. Chen Miner emphasised that "religious work is very political, policy, and
sensitive. Party committees at all levels in the city should strengthen their leadership over
religious work". Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor
presided over the meeting and Zhang Xuan, Director of the Standing Committee of the
Municipal People's Congress, Wang Jiong, Chairman of the CPPCC Committee, Wu Cunrong,
Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of
the Municipal Party Committee, and relevant municipal leaders attended the meeting.
Separately, on March 2, the Chongqing Daily published a Summary of Inspection Work under
the caption 'Deepening political inspections and giving full play to the role of "swords" and
striving to promote the high-quality development of the inspection work of the municipal party
committee in the new era —— A summary of the inspection work of the fifth session of the
municipal party committee'. It said "Chen Miner, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee,
attached great importance to the inspection work and fulfilled the responsibility of the first
responsible person. He delivered 28 speeches and 32 instructions on the inspection work
successively" and that "The party's political responsibility for governing the party has been
strengthened, the party's awareness of the party and party members has been strengthened, and the city's political ecology has fundamentally improved, providing a strong political guarantee
for Chongqing's reform, development and stability in the new era". The article laid emphasis
on the 'two establishments' and 'two maintenance' and averred it "will comprehensively and
thoroughly clean up the bad influence of Sun Zhengcai and the poison of Bo Xilai and Wang
Lijun, and resolutely eliminate the poison of Deng Huilin".
