CHINA-INDIA: ECONOMIC TIMES REPORTS THAT CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER WANG YI LIKELY TO VISIT INDIA SOON

The Economic Times (March 15) reported that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is likely to visit India in a week or so. It recalled that last week, ahead of the 15th round of Commanderlevel talks, Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla had said: "We have made it clear to China that peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential for the development of our relationship. Development of India-China relationship has to be based on 'three mutuals' -- mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest." 7 (Comment: Wang Yi's visit will be related to the developments in Ukraine and pressure on China from the US and West. India should keep the visit, if it materialises, at strictly a working level and make no concessions to its current stance as spelt out by the Foreign Secretary.)
