CHINA-INDIA: CHINESE DEFENCE MINISTER AT SHANGRILA DIALOGUE SAYS INDIA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CURRENT BORDER STAND OFF

Speaking at the Shangri La dialogue the Global Times (June 12) quoted the Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe as saying, "The merits of the China-India border conflicts are very clear, and the responsibility does not lie with China". He said that China and India are neighbours, and it is in the interest of both countries to maintain good relations, which is what China is actively striving to do. Wei Fenghe also said he had communicated with the Indian defense minister and made it clear that the responsibility does not lie with China.
