CHINA-TAIWAN: TAIWANESE MICROCHIP ENTREPRENEUR PLEDGES 1 BILLION NTD TO TRAIN 3 MILLION TAIWANESE IN 3 YEARS

The Guardian (September 2) reported that Robert Tsao, a microchip entrepreneur who founded United Microelectronics, has pledged one billion Taiwan Dollars (US $ 32 million) to train 'civilian warriors' and 'marksmen' to defend Taiwan. He pledged to train 3 million people in three years working with Taiwan's civil defence organisation, the Kuma Academy.
