CHINA-LEADERSHIP: CHINESE PRESIDENT XI JINPING INSPECTED GUIZHOU PROVINCE FROM MARCH 17 TO 18

People's Daily (March 18) disclosed that Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected Guizhou

Province from March 17-18, where he stressed the importance of adhering to high-quality

development and driving growth by further deepening reform and opening-up comprehensively.

He called on the province to firm up confidence, work hard, and take steady steps to advance

Chinese modernization. Inspecting Liping County, in Guizhou Province, Xi Jinping stressed

that areas with large ethnic minority populations should preserve their distinctive culture and

let it shine through the integrated development of culture and tourism. Visiting a village of the

Dong ethnic group in Guizhou Province on March 17, Xi Jinping praised the distinctive culture

of the ethnic group as "deeply traditional and remarkably stylish." PBSC member and Director

of the CCP CC General Office Cai Qi accompanied Xi Jinping on the inspection tour.
