CHINA-LEADERSHIP: CHINESE PRESIDENT XI JINPING INSPECTED LIJIANG CITY, KUNMING AND OTHER PLACES IN YUNNAN PROVINCE FROM MARCH 19-20

The PLA Daily (March 20) disclosed that Chinese President Xi Jinping, accompanied by
Yunnan Provincial Party Secretary Wang Ning and Governor Wang Yubo, visited Lijiang,
Kunming and other places for inspection and research from March 19 to 20. People's Daily and
Xinhua (March 20) reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the Old City of Lijiang
in Yunnan Province, on March 19 afternoon, where he stressed the sustainable and healthy
development of the cultural and tourism industry. He also visited a modern flower industry
park in Lijiang City and talked with villagers and technicians working there and asked about
the flower varieties, market sales and their incomes. On the morning of March 20, Xi Jinping
listened to the work reports of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial
Government, affirmed the achievements made in all aspects of Yunnan, and put forward
requirements for the next step of work. PBSC member and Director of the CCP CC General
Office Cai Qi accompanied Xi Jinping during the inspection. Politburo member and Vice
Premier He Lifeng and 'responsible persons from relevant departments of the central and state
organs' accompanied the inspection. On March 20 morning, Xi Jinping met leading cadres of
the rank of Colonel and above, grassroots advanced models, and civilian personnel
representatives of the troops stationed in Kunming. On behalf of the Party Central Committee
and the Central Military Commission, he extended sincere greetings to all officers and soldiers
stationed in Kunming, and took a group photo with everyone.
