CHINA-INTERNAL: THINK-TANKS

According to a recent report, China has the second largest number of think tanks in the world (426), behind only the United States (1,826).On October 27, at the sixth meeting of the Leading Group for Overall Reform, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for a new type of think tank. He said think tanks should have “Chinese characteristics,” promote China’s modernization and governing system as well as strengthen China’s soft power.
